Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the MRS app ("MRS: PDF Editor, Scanner & OCR") and the website mrspdfapp.com collect, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it.

The short version: your documents, scans, signatures and the text MRS recognizes stay on your iPhone. We do not upload them and we cannot see them. We collect usage data to improve the app, subscription data to unlock Premium, and, if you allow it, ad measurement data. We do not sell your data.

Who we are

MRS is made by Songtive SIA ("Songtive", "we", "us"), a company registered in Latvia. Songtive is the controller of the personal data described here. Questions and requests: [email protected].

Your documents

• Scans and PDFs are stored in the app on your iPhone. They are part of your normal iPhone backup (iCloud or computer), which Apple handles under its own terms.
• Text recognition (OCR) and receipt reading run on your iPhone with Apple's Vision framework. No page, image or text is sent to us or to anyone else.
• Signatures you draw are saved on your iPhone (the newest 5) so you can reuse them.
• Sharing: a document leaves your iPhone only when you share it, through the iOS share sheet, to the person or app you choose. It does not pass through us.

What we collect

• Usage data. Which screens and features you use (for example "scan finished", "signature placed", "paywall shown"), app version, iOS version, device model, language, country and an identifier created by the app for this install. We use it to find bugs and to see which features help people. It never includes document names, content or text.
• Subscription data. If you buy MRS Premium, Apple processes the payment. We receive the subscription status, the product, the price and the purchase history, never your card details.
• Answers in the welcome questions. The first screens of the app ask what you want to do with MRS. Your answers personalize the app and are part of the usage data.
• Ad measurement. To see which of our ads bring people to MRS, the app tells Meta and TikTok when it is installed and opened, when you finish the welcome screens, and when a free trial or a subscription starts (with its price). If the app came from an Apple Search Ads ad, Apple tells us which campaign it was. On iPhone, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is included only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
• Support messages. When you use Contact support in the app, we receive your message, the email address you enter (optional), and technical details: app version, device model, iOS version, languages, time zone, whether Premium is active, and counts such as the number of documents, pages and folders. Never document names, text or files.
• The website. mrspdfapp.com uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Our server logs the IP address and browser of each request for security.

Why we use it (legal bases under the GDPR)

• To provide the app and Premium features you asked for (performance of a contract).
• To keep the app working, fix crashes and improve features (our legitimate interest).
• To measure our ads with Meta, TikTok and Apple Search Ads (your consent where the law requires it, and the App Tracking Transparency choice for the IDFA).
• To answer your support messages (our legitimate interest, or steps at your request).
• To keep records required by tax and consumer law (legal obligation).

Who processes data for us

• Apple — App Store distribution, payments, subscriptions and Apple Search Ads attribution.
• Adapty — subscription management and paywalls: subscription status, purchase history, an app identifier and, with your permission, the IDFA.
• Google Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase, Remote Config) — usage data and app settings.
• Nexus, Songtive's own analytics service (on Google Cloud) — usage and subscription events.
• Meta Platforms and TikTok — ad measurement, as described above.
• Google Analytics — website visits.

These providers act on our instructions or under their own terms for their measurement services. Some of them process data outside the European Economic Area; where they do, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your documents with anyone.

How long we keep it

• Usage and ad measurement data: only as long as we need it to improve the app and measure our ads, then it is deleted or made anonymous.
• Subscription records: as long as tax and consumer law require.
• Support messages: as long as needed to help you and to handle follow-up questions.
• Your documents: on your iPhone until you delete them. Deleted documents stay in the app's trash for 30 days, then they are removed. Deleting the app removes all of them.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, a copy of it, its correction or deletion, a limit on its use, and you can object to its use or withdraw a consent at any time. Because MRS has no accounts, tell us the approximate date you installed the app and, if you wrote to support, the email address you used, so we can find your data. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Latvia this is the Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija).

California residents: you have the right to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing". We do not sell personal information. Sharing the IDFA with Meta and TikTok for ad measurement happens only if you allow tracking; turn it off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Children

MRS is not made for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

Data sent by the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to our systems is limited to the people who need it for their work.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top of this page. For important changes we also tell you in the app.
